In Stewart County races in the August 7 election, Assessor of Property Connie Brigham gets to keep her job, winning over challenger Ron Meier 1,268-458.

The only other contested county race was that of District #2 Commissioner, and incumbent Thurston Smith won that race 142-53.
Running uncontested were District #3 Commissioner Neal Bruce Wallace, and School board members Billy Sexton, District #2; Bobby Morgan, District #3; and Kenny Collins, District #6.
In the Democratic U.S. Senate race, Stewart County voters chose Robert D. Tuke over the other five candidates as their choice to face Republican incumbent Lamar Alexander in November.
Tuke received 247 votes, while his closest challenger we Mark Clayton with 181 and Gary G. Davis with 157. The remaining candidates got less than 100 votes.
Alexander was running unopposed.
